Corsair Cove — How to Get More Rope

Leafcutter Fibre into Rope Maker output — the chain every Tier 2 pier needs.

How to Get More Rope

Rope is the resource that separates a decorative Pier from a real shipyard. You do not pick Rope off the ground. You harvest Fibre with a Leafcutter on a Fibre deposit, then process it in a Rope Maker. This guide covers finding deposits, balanced ratios, Pier stockpiles, and the failure modes that leave Tier 2 keels waiting forever.

Cross-link Ship building, Production chains, Supply chains, and Tier 2 ships unlock.

The rope chain in one line

Fibre deposit → Leafcutter → Rope Maker → Warehouse (near Pier) → ship construction

Keep that loop short. Fibre deposits commonly spawn along coastlines near Pier slots, which is convenient — finished Rope is mostly consumed at the dock.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Select Leafcutter in the build menu. Valid Fibre deposits highlight because the building can only snap onto them.
  2. Place the Leafcutter directly on the deposit and assign workers.
  3. Build at least one Rope Maker as close as terrain allows.
  4. Connect both buildings into your camp / warehouse network so fetchers can move Fibre.
  5. Optionally place a Warehouse between the Rope Maker and the Pier so finished Rope stages next to ship construction.
  6. Watch route colours — yellow is acceptable early; red means pirates waste the Fibre trip.

Once Fibre arrives, Rope production is automatic. Idle Rope Makers almost always mean missing Fibre, missing workers, or a broken connection — not a hidden crafting button.

Ratios that actually scale

Community efficiency tables for retail 1.0 often cite:

GoalStarting ratio
First Tier 2 keel1 Leafcutter → 1 Rope Maker near the Pier
Steady fleet expansionPush toward 1 Leafcutter → up to 3 Rope Makers if Fibre keeps both fed
Bottleneck diagnosisFibre piled in Leafcutter → add processing or shorten transport; Rope Makers starving → add Leafcutters / deposits

If two Rope Makers constantly sit empty, you need another Fibre deposit, not a third processor. If both processors run full-time and Rope still vanishes, your Pier demand (multiple Tier 2 hulls, repairs, side buildings) outran a single coastal chain — claim a second deposit with a second camp.

Always verify live tooltips after patches; use production ratios reference as a mid-session checklist.

Where to find Fibre deposits

  • Prefer coastlines that already host Pier slots.
  • Use the Leafcutter placement preview as a deposit scanner.
  • If the starter camp coast is barren, expand with a second pirate camp that claims another Pier and its nearby Fibre.
  • Do not haul Fibre across half of Skull Rock for your first 50 Rope — relocate the Rope Maker instead.

Stockpile before you click Build Ship

Many Tier 2+ hulls ask for about 50 Rope alongside 50 Planks. Practical habits:

  • Pause cosmetic buildings while the first stockpile fills.
  • Keep Rope in a Pier-adjacent warehouse, not only in the Rope Maker output slot.
  • Assign extra fetchers when the same warehouse also feeds rum, bread, or plank chains.
  • Pair Rope planning with Salvage Dock discounts so you do not burn double materials on repairs.

Vertical logistics tip

Fibre chains love ziplines for downhill delivery into a coastal warehouse. Uphill return trips still need paths or elevators — do not assume a Zip Line alone solves a cliff between deposit and Pier.

Rope is boring until you need fifty of it in one click. Build the Leafcutter early and keep the Rope Maker inside camp radius.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do you get rope in Corsair Cove?

Place a Leafcutter on a Fibre deposit, connect it to a Rope Maker, assign workers, and store finished Rope near your Pier.

Where are Fibre deposits?

Most commonly along coastlines near Pier slots. Selecting the Leafcutter in the build menu highlights valid deposit locations.

What is a good Leafcutter to Rope Maker ratio?

Start 1:1 for your first Tier 2 ship. Scale toward one Leafcutter supporting multiple Rope Makers only while Fibre keeps them fed — community tables often mention up to 1:3.

Why did my Rope Maker stop?

Usually missing Fibre, missing workers, a broken camp connection, or a red transport route. It is not a separate crafting mini-game.

How much Rope do Tier 2 ships need?

Many Tier 2+ hulls list around 50 Rope with 50 Planks. Stockpile before opening the Pier construction panel.
